CORFU. The first phase is mainly repair and renovation work.
Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality has begun work at Garitsa Cemetery. The first phase is mainly repair and renovation work and is nearing completion. The second phase will focus on general improvements and beautification.
The municipal crew has been at work for almost two weeks now and has already filled in potholes, repaired drainage grills and replaced signs. Benches have been repaired and replaced along with flower troughs that had been damaged and thrown aside.
The improvements day-by-day are noticeable and already 20 truckloads of rubbish and rubble have been removed along with remains of roots from palm trees that had been cut at an earlier time.
The next phase will be the beautification of the cemetery.
