New Fire Department Unit in Paleokastritsa

CORFU. Following a recent decision at a Municipal Council meeting, premises have been made available for a seasonal Fire Department Unit.
A section of the premises used by Paleokastritsa KEP was made available for use by Corfu Fire Department by Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou on Thursday 16 July.
This means that for the first time there will be a seasonal Fire Department Unit in the area.
Following the recent decision by the Municipal Council, Meropi Ydraiou handed over the 34 sq.m. premises, which include a small hall, two rooms and two bathrooms along with office equipment.
The KEP office will continue working as normal.
Both the Mayor and the Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos stressed the importance of the new unit, which will provide additional protection for the area from forest and urban fires as well as assistance wherever needed.
