CORFU. Announcement from the Social Welfare, Education & Culture Services (Social Policy & Voluntary Work Department):
It is time to celebrate International Volunteer Day again this year - a day to help our fellow humans, to raise awareness and to make a contribution.
The Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipal Voluntary Work Department along with the Educational Department are collaborating with the Regional Education Department to organise voluntary activities at the Municipal Theatre on Thursday 5 December.
From 09:00 to 14:00 the public will have the opportunity to meet voluntary groups at the Theatre and find out more about their activities and volunteerism in general.
School groups will be especially welcome and we would like to encourage primary and secondary schools to organise group visits to the Municipal Theatre on that day to allow pupils to find out about voluntary activities on the island and volunteerism in general - hopefully inspiring them to talk about what they saw and learnt when they are back at school.
The invitation from the Voluntary Work Department says: "First of all, we wish to invite interested groups, associations and organisations to complete the application form or contact us at [email protected] or 26613 62126 (Magda Kokkali), 26610 38320 (Spyridoula Mamalou), 6936 691321 (Spyros Neratzis).
All the schools interested in organising a visit MUST register at 26610 93333 (Marina Papasotiriou) Monday to Friday 10.00 -15.00."
