CORFU. "This is not a one-off act - the washing of squares and streets will be done on a regular basis..."
In a press release the new Mayor of Central Corfu and the Diapontia Islands Meropi Ydraiou said that the washing of the streets and squares in Corfu will not just be a one-off act but will be done on a regular basis.
Ms Ydraiou said, "Clean Corfu is the name given by the new local authority to the cleaning programme. It is now being put into practice."
The press release from Meropi Ydraiou regarding the washing of Corfu streets and squares:
"Corfu is making a Fresh Start. The washing of the Municipality's squares, pavements and streets has begun"

By the order of the new Mayor of Central Corfu and the Diapontia Islands Ms. Meropi Ydraiou a new extensive programme has begun with crews from the Cleansing Service assisted by groups of volunteers washing squares, pavements and streets.
Refuse bins are also being washed and old and damaged ones being replaced. Bins are being placed in spots from which they had disappeared.
