CORFU. In order to avoid a repeat of what has happened at previous meetings.
So as to avoid a repeat of what has happened at previous Council meetings - with yoghurt, handcuffs and other 'gifts' - there were police outside the Ionian Parliament, where the meeting was to take place, who checked Lefkimmi residents' bags before allowing them in. There were, of course, strong reactions from some of the people and there was an air of tension.
