LONDON. Triumph for Corfu in the EUFCN Location Awards competition for the best European location in the film and TV industries.
"And the Film Location Award goes to…" Corfu, location for 'The Durrells' TV series, was the winner in the 2nd EUFCN (European Film Commission Network) Location Awards competition.
Following the voting from the public which ended on 30 November, the results were announced last night at a special event at the 'Focus' exhibition in London. EUFCN posted the result on its Facebook Page along with warm congratulations to the Hellenic Film Commission (EUFCN member) and the Hellenic Cinema Centre (EKK) for their nomination and support for Corfu - "one of the UNESCO Monument Sites in Greece, where the highly popular British TV series 'The Durrells' was filmed for ITV and PBS (4 series)".
The lucky winner of two nights of accommodation for two people, chosen from those that took part in the vote, is expected to be announced today (Wednesday).
EUFCN has 90 members in 30 countries who promote European locations for film and audiovisual productions. The annual competition is conducted in collaboration with Cineuropa.
Corfu was chosen as the top location from 12 nominees including Lake Carezza in Italy, Teide National Park in Tenerife and Innsbruck in Austria.
