Corfu Municipal and Regional Theatre invited to “Raid Festival 2026” in Italy
CORFU. On Monday 2 November, at the “Spazio Arena” in Avellino, the Corfu Municipal and Regional Theatre, in collaboration with the “Iros Angelos Dance Theatre”, will present the dance theatre production “Icarus / Icaro”.
The Corfu Municipal and Regional Theatre has renewed its collaboration with Italy’s city festivals, with which it previously worked between 2011 and 2015, for the period 2026–2028. As part of this renewed partnership, on 11 September it hosted the “Borderlinedanza” dance company at the Rena Vlachopoulou Theatre, Mon Repos, where it presented its work “LEUCO”.

The next stages of this collaboration are taking place as part of the “Raid Festival 2026” in Campania (Naples), Italy.
On Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, in Salerno, the Artistic Director of the Corfu Municipal and Regional Theatre, director and choreographer Petros Gallias, led a seminar entitled “Flight and Fall, Bodies in Suspension / Volo e caduta, corpi in sospensione”.
The seminar was attended by professional dancers and actors from Italian theatre companies and dance groups.
On Monday 2 November, at the “Spazio Arena” in Avellino, the Corfu Municipal and Regional Theatre, in collaboration with the “Iros Angelos Dance Theatre”, will present the dance theatre production “Icarus / Icaro”.
The work “Icarus” explores the themes of flight and fall, trauma and recovery, and the redefinition of the human being following a loss – physical, intellectual or emotional. It is a struggle to recover, and a victory over trauma and death.
Icarus, with his wings spread wide, soars through the sky, driven by pride and arrogance. He commits the sin of hubris, flying too close to the Sun. His wings melt, and he suffers his inevitable fall.
Flight. Suspension. Fall. This is life in its entirety: a test of flight, an endless longing to conquer the sky, a desire to overcome the pull of the earth, even if only for a few seconds. And for those fleeting seconds – if and when they come – was the dedication worth it? The struggle? The sacrifices? Life itself provides the answer, when, just one second before it ends, a sign flashes through your soul.

Icarus is portrayed by Fotis Lamaris. Actors and dancers selected from among the participants in the seminar in Salerno will also take part.
The Corfu Municipal and Regional Theatre will incur no costs. All expenses associated with the seminar and performances (rehearsal studio, recording studio, transport, accommodation, and fees for dancers and collaborators) will be covered entirely by the “Raid Festival 2026”.
