27th Corfu Folklore Festival - change of venue
CORFU. This year, the events will be held at the high school gym.
The 27th Corfu Folklore Festival is making a strong return, proving that culture always finds a way. Despite the unexpected closure of the Municipal Theatre for safety reasons, the event will go ahead as planned—taking on new energy in a different, yet equally vibrant venue.
The High School Gymnasium will be the heart of this year’s festival, transformed into a meeting point for cultures, sounds and dance traditions. There, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the main events will take place, proving that authentic cultural expression is not confined by walls, but draws its strength from the people behind it.
Rehearsals will be held on Thursday and Friday at the Workers Centre hall, while more than 1,200 dancers and 16 musicians from Greece and abroad are preparing to bring to life a celebration that bridges past and present.
This year’s festival carries special significance, as it is dedicated to Dimitris Kantas, the folklorist and researcher who was a driving force and the soul of the Festival. His contribution to preserving and promoting Greek tradition remains invaluable, living on through every step, every melody and every participant.
The organisers extend their warm thanks to the Hellenic Cricket Federation, sports clubs and all those who contributed to hosting and adapting the event.
