27th Corfu Folklore Festival
CORFU. 21-23 March at 17:30 at the Municipal Theatre.
Laodamas is organising the “27th Corfu Folklore Festival” for the 27th consecutive year, one of the most important — and the largest — cultural gatherings of traditional dance on the island.
The festival will take place on March 21, 22, and 23, starting at 17:30, at Corfu Municipal Theatre.
This year’s event is also held on the occasion of the national anniversary of March 25, a day honouring the heroes of the national liberation struggle of 1821, highlighting through dance and music our historical memory and cultural identity. In this way, the Folklore Festival becomes a living tribute to the values of freedom, independence, and historical memory that were passed down to us by our ancestors.
A total of 44 dance groups will participate in the event, with a particularly strong presence this year of children’s and youth groups, emphasising the continuity and vitality of Greek tradition among younger generations.
In total, the festival will include:
-
More than 1,200 dancers
-
17 musicians (the entire three-day festival will be accompanied by live traditional music)
-
23 dance instructors
During the three days, more than 3,000 attendees are expected to attend the events.
The Corfu Folklore Festival is a great celebration of culture, tradition, and the creative gathering of people who love tradition, Greek dance, and folk music.
This year’s event is co-organised by the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands.
Admission will be free for the public, with the only request being full respect for our Municipal Theatre.
