57 balloons released into sky over Corfu by Thinaliakos Football Academy
CORFU. In tribute to the victims of Tempi.
In an atmosphere of deep emotion and collective remembrance, Thinaliakos Football Academy held a symbolic event on Saturday, February 28, at Paliobouka Beach in Almyros, in the Municipality of North Corfu. On the occasion of the third anniversary of the Tempi tragedy, the island’s sporting community came together to send its own message to the sky.
Athletes from all age groups, coaches, parents, and friends of the Academy came together to pay tribute to the 57 souls who were so unjustly lost. The event included:
A minute of silence: A pause of respect that united all generations.
Balloons in the sky: Colourful balloons rose high, symbolising the hope that must not fade.
Flowers in the sea: The waves “embraced” the flowers left by those present, in a gesture of farewell and remembrance.
Beyond sports, the Thinaliakos Academy aims to shape individuals with strong values. This initiative was not only an act of remembrance, but also a reminder of the importance of human life, safety, and unwavering solidarity.
“We express our deep respect and ongoing support to the families of the victims. We do not forget, we honour, and we continue to demand a safe future for our children.”
