CORFU. After striking the kerb, the motorcycle went on to hit a road sign post, causing fatal injuries to the rider.
A tragic incident occurred late on Monday night, February 23, on the Corfu–Paleokastritsa Road, near the Kontokali area, shortly before midnight.
According to reports, a motorcycle ridden by a 62-year-old man, an ophthalmologist at Corfu General Hospital, veered off course under circumstances that are as yet unclear. The motorcycle initially struck the kerb and then collided with a road sign pole, resulting in the driver’s fatal injuries.
Corfu Traffic Police Department has undertaken the investigation into the exact causes and circumstances of the accident.
The findings of the traffic police are awaited in order to determine the factors that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
