Life-Saving Gift to 5th Primary School and Kindergarten: Defibrillator installation and training by EKAB
CORFU. The defibrillator, which will be installed at the school entrance, is a vital life-saving device.
On Sunday, January 18, Corfu 5th Primary School and Kindergarten Parents and Guardians Association held its traditional New Year’s cake-cutting event at the school, in a warm and festive atmosphere attended by parents, children, and teachers.

The event was a lovely opportunity to meet and exchange wishes for the New Year, with a focus on cooperation within the school community and on strengthening the sense of safety and solidarity.

A particularly special moment at the event was the significant donation of a defibrillator by Ms. Anastasia Pandi and Mr. Leonidas Roumpatis. The defibrillator, which will be installed at the entrance of the school, is a device of vital importance, as it can be used immediately in cases of cardiac arrest, providing valuable time until medical assistance arrives. With its installation, safety is enhanced not only for the pupils and their families, but also for the wider area of one of the town’s particularly busy streets.
A team from the EKAB Ambulance Service was present on site and provided training in the use of the defibrillator, informing parents and teachers and strengthening their preparedness to respond to emergency situations.

The Ionian Islands Regional Authority was represented by the Deputy Regional Governor, Spyros Ioannou, while the Municipality of Central Corfu was represented by the Deputy Mayor, Christos Skourtis. Their presence highlighted the importance of cooperation between the school community, local authorities, and institutions in protecting public health and safety.

The Parents and Guardians Association warmly thanks everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the event, especially the donors, EKAB, and the representatives of the local authorities, clearly demonstrating that collective effort can make a difference.
