CORFU. Acharavi was chosen as the base, as it is the centre of North Corfu, and its location ensures a reduction in emergency response time, offering safety both to permanent residents and to the thousands of visitors.
Local officials and a large crowd attended the inauguration of the new branch of the Ambulance Service (EKAB) in Acharavi on Tuesday morning, October 21, right next to the Regional Clinic and the Town Hall. The opening of the station, which will cover the emergency needs of North Corfu, marks an important moment and the fulfillment of a long-standing request by the residents.
The new EKAB branch, a project of vital importance for the immediate healthcare coverage of the northern part of the island, is initially staffed by eight new paramedics who were recently sworn in and have already taken up duty. The base begins its operation with a fully equipped ambulance, ensuring 24-hour operational readiness in the wider area.
