CORFU. I condemn these unacceptable acts and they need to cease immediately.
Deputy Mayor Nikos Kalogeros posted a statement on Facebook regarding the attack on the car belonging to the President of the Old Town Permanent Residents Association.
"I am extremely angry that in our quiet neighbourhood (in the heart of the old town) these types of acts are increasing - cars and property belonging to peaceful residents are vandalised (plus the graffiti) for no reason. In our neighbourhood a few days ago locals caught three hooligans who had damaged a car by kicking it and were dancing on top of the roof and bonnet of our car.
The police were called and the incident was reported. The youngsters, who were approximately 16 years of age, were giving a talking to but denied everything. None of the neighbours asked for charges to be brought.
Today I heard about a similar incident of vandalism in a nearby neighbourhood - this time on the car belonging to the President of the Old Town Permanent Residents Association. I condemn these unacceptable acts and they need to cease immediately."
