87 migrants rescued off Paxos and taken to Igoumenitsa port

PAXOS. They were taken to Igoumenitsa late on Friday night and are being taken care.
A rescue operation was successfully carried out after a boat taking migrants to Italy sent out an emergency signal 40 miles west of Paxos on Friday afternoon, 14 October.
A cruise ship and a cargo ship, which had taken part in the search and resue operation, took on board 88 migrants, the majority of whom were mothers and children.
Late on Friday night they were taken Igoumenitsa Central Port Authority, where they are being taken care of. Once they have been identified, they will be taken with the assistance of the police to accommodation designated by the judicial authorities.
