Two people stranded on difficult trail between Kontogyalos and Glyfada

Authorities were alerted on Thursday afternoon, August 20, when a man and a woman became stranded on an extremely difficult-to-access trail in the area between Kontogyalos and Glyfada.

The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m., when the couple, realising that they were unable either to continue or return safely, called the Fire Service for assistance.

The rescue operation was launched immediately. The following forces rushed to the scene:

• Three Fire Service vehicles
• One foot patrol team to reach the difficult-to-access area
• The Fire Service Commander, who coordinated the operation

Thanks to the firefighters’ prompt intervention, the two people were located and escorted to a safe area. An ambulance was already waiting there to take them into its care, provide first aid and assess their condition.
