CORFU. Two injured hikers were successfully rescued following a swift operation by the Fire Service and EMODE.

The rescue operation involving two French tourists on the difficult-to-access trail leading to Porto Timoni beach, in North Corfu, was successfully completed shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 24 August.

Forces from the Thinali Fire Station, along with a specialist team from the 15th EMODE (Special Forest Operations Unit), rushed to the scene and managed to reach and assist the two hikers. They were a young man who had sustained an ankle injury and a middle-aged woman who lost consciousness due to severe exhaustion.

The rescuers provided first aid and safely transported the two foreign nationals to an accessible location, where they were handed over to medical personnel for further care.
