CORFU. A total of 16 tons of clothing has been collected since May, when the collaboration with All Together for the Corfu Environment began.

The final lot of recyclable clothing for 2021, 1.5 tons of it, was handed over on Thursday 30 December by a team from North Corfu Municipality headed by Deputy Mayor for Circular Economy and Public Relations Spyridoula Kokkali. This takes the total collected since May, when the collaboration with All Together for the Corfu Environment led by Spyros Neratzis began, to 16 tons.

According to the official data from Spyros Neratzis, between May and 31 December a total of 37 tons of clothing and linen was collected throughout Corfu, 16 tons of which (43%) was from North Corfu Municipality. This does not include the clothing collected by the municipality from Acharavi and Arillas Green Spots and distributed free to residents.

North Corfu Municipality congratulates residents for their enthusiastic response to this project.

Recycling and reuse, the foundation of the circular economy, are based on the participation of all. They are the basic prerequisites for a clean environment and play a key role in the reduction of the cost of refuse collection and transport.
