Central Corfu Municipality to receive €300k from Ministry of Interior for storm damage

CORFU. Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou met with Ministry of the Interior General Secretary Michalis Stavrianoudakis.
At the meeting it was announced that, following a decision by the Deputy Minister for the Interior Stelios Petsas, €300k will be given to the Municipality to deal with the immediate problems caused by the recent severe weather.
They also discussed how to deal with the red tape regarding the recruitment of specialised personnel and school cleaners for the municipality.
The Mayor stressed the need to speed up the funding process in order to repair the damage done in the flooded areas and they also talked about funding for the municipality from the 'Antonis Tritsis' Programme.
In the press release issued by the municipality, it stated that Mr. Stavrianoudakis, who represented the Government at the 28 October celebrations, will remain in Corfu until Saturday so that he can visit the areas of the island that were hit by the recent floods.
