Problems continue in the North – Mobilisation of Civil Protection, volunteers, and ‘The Smile of the Child’

After last week’s severe weather, problems remain in many villages of North Corfu, with residents struggling against the damage and the mud.
In Avliotes, one of the villages affected by damage and landslides, North Corfu Civil ProtectionService was mobilised on Tuesday morning. People went to the affected areas to assist, coordinated by Vassilis Mouzakitis and staff from “The Smile of the Child” from Chamilí Magouládon, who, using their own equipment, offered FREE assistance to clear houses and roads.
Roads and houses that had been filled with mud were cleared at an intensive pace. The volunteer effort extended to other affected villages, such as Kavadades and Magoulades. It is worth noting that many of those involved offered their services outside of working hours, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and solidarity.
