Marine pollution in Garitsa

CORFU. Corfu Coastguard has placed absorbent barriers around the polluted area.
Marine pollution covering an area of about 100x40m. with opalescent light oil was detected in Garitsa Bay on Sunday.
According to the Central Port Authority, available ant-pollution materials were immediately put on standby and two patrol boats and a Coastguard land vehicle went to the area and successfully contained the polluted area with absorbent barriers.
Samples were also taken from the polluted area and Corfu Central Port Authority is conducting an investigation.
