Maintenance of greenery and automatic watering network at Garitsa-Anemomylos park

CORFU. "The protection and strengthening of the natural environment, as well as the treatment and cleaning of trees affected by diseases, are a primary concern of the municipal service."
(Central Corfu Municipality) As part of the maintenance work at Garitsa – Anemomylos Park, the Municipality’s Green Space Department informs the public that its crews have proceeded with the cutting and removal of seven trees, which dried out months ago due to disease.
The protection and enhancement of the natural environment, as well as the treatment and cleaning of trees affected by disease, are a primary concern of the department, aiming to preserve a healthy ecosystem in the park — a natural "lung" for the town and an ideal recreational area.
As a standard practice of the Green Space Department, every tree removed for any reason is replaced with a new one. The recently removed trees will be replaced in October, a suitable month for planting.
In the same manner, following the completion of the renovation project in 2023, the Green Space Department has carried out at least twenty additional tree plantings.
As of 18 June, a maintenance contract has begun for the repair and restoration of damage in the automatic irrigation network. Prior to the start of the work, at least eighty broken nozzles (sprinklers) and several cut pipes had been identified at various locations. The damage has already been repaired, and the automatic watering system is gradually showing visible results.
