Police officer asked man to wear mask and got a punch in the eye

CORFU. An incident in Corfu not dissimilar to that involving the Metro official in Athens took place in daytime in the centre of Corfu Town.
A man has been charged with causing bodily harm and verbal abuse after punching a police officer on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place in Evg. Voulgareos St. when two police officers on bikes saw someone without a mask and asked him to wear one.
According to police sources, the man swore at them and punched one of them in he face.
He was immediately arrested and is being held, whilst the police officer was taken to hospital for first aid. According to the same sources, he was hit in the eye and may require stitches.
