Police officer convicted for bodily harm against members of public in Lefkimmi

CORFU. The case concerns the behaviour of the police during the protest demonstrations against the operation of the landfill at Mesorachia, Lefkimmi, in 2018.
The trial of the police officer accused of causing bodily harm to two citizens in Lefkimmi began on Monday, October 6 and concluded on Tuesday, October 7. The case concerns a retired police brigadier, who was then the police director and head of the police forces during the protest demonstrations against the operation of the landfill at Mesorachia (2018).
He was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a three-year suspension for bodily harm against K. Aspiotis, while he was acquitted of the same charge against Sp. Myrillas due to doubts.
The lawyer representing the plaintiffs was M. Giannakopoulos, an associate of Zoe Konstantopoulou, whose law office has taken on the case. However, she was unable to travel to Corfu for the trial due to developments in the Tempe case.
