CORFU. A felony case file has been formed against four individuals who are alleged to have threatened a 30-year-old man and his family, demanding a large sum of money. The case also includes allegations of carrying a weapon and pursuing them with a vehicle.

An attempted extortion and attempted illegal violence case reported to the police led to the arrest of four individuals in Corfu and the filing of felony charges against them.

The case concerns disputes between members of the Roma community in the Ropa Valley. According to the police, three men aged 19, 29, and 49, and a 23-year-old woman were arrested following an investigation that began after a complaint filed by a 30-year-old resident.

According to the complaint, between May 17 and May 22, the accused went to the 30-year-old’s home and, threatening him and members of his family with violence, demanded the payment of a large sum of money. The 29-year-old allegedly claimed that the money had been hidden in an area near the complainant’s residence.

The police investigation also found that in one of the incidents, the 29-year-old had a shotgun with him, and later allegedly pursued the complainant and his relatives with a vehicle, together with his 19-year-old accomplice.

The three were initially located and arrested on May 22 in the area of Messi, as part of a coordinated operation. A case file was drawn up against them and they were brought before the Public Prosecutor of First Instance, while the case was referred to an investigating judge.

On May 26, the fourth accused was also arrested. A warrant issued by the Corfu investigating judge was pending against him for the offences of attempted extortion, violations of weapons legislation, and endangering transportation safety.
