Boat with migrants intercepted in Paleokastritsa

CORFU. The passengers had no legal documents and were arrested.
The Coastguard Search & Rescue Coordination Centre notified the Paleokastritsa Coastguard of a boat in difficulties off the west coast of Corfu.
Two patrol boats went to investigate and found a motorised plastic dinghy with distorted identification markings and five foreign nationals on board who were in good health.
The boat was brought safely into Paleokastritsa Alippa harbour and the foreign nationals, aged between 20 and 27, were taken to Corfu Central Port Authority, where it was discovered that two of them had fake documents requesting international protection and had no legal residency documents. Another has been registered as being forbidden to enter the country.
They were arrested and the fake documents were confiscated and the dinghy seized.
