CORFU. Afra school pupils won first place in the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality competition with Gouvia Primary School coming second.
Afra Primary School won the first recycling competition run by Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality on the Followgreen platform, followed by Gouvia Primary School in second place.
The school posted the following on its Facebook Page:
"Our school won the first recycling competition run by Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality on the Followgreen platform!
You feel proud when everyone comes together to do something for the common good. When your pupils are imbued with love and respect for the environment.
When our school pupils in turn encourage and inspire their parents and the local community to recycle. First place wasn't our objective...but we won it anyway!
Congratulations first of all to all our pupils, to the teachers, who got completely involved in the effort and brought recyclable materials from home, to the parents and Afra residents who brought recyclable materials from all over the village and to the PGA, especially the President Tasos Bouas, who completely supported the project.
Finally, we would like to congratulate the Central Corfu Municipality for its initiative and wish for its continued success. Well done, also, to all the schools that took part - our efforts won't stop...! All together we can save the Earth! Every day is Environment Day! Every day is Recycling Day! Onwards....!"
