Problems and damage from last night΄s storms in Corfu

CORFU. Last night΄s storms in Corfu led to fallen trees, flooded roads and problems with power supply and telephone lines.
The adverse weather conditions on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning caused problems throughout the island.
A large number of trees fell and the Fire Service was called out to remove them and to pump water from flooded areas.
There were problems with electricity and telephone poles such as the one below which fell on the Eth. Achilleio Rd at around midnight.
According to the Civil Protection Department, a tornado passed through Spartylas early in the morning uprooting several trees and causing problems with the power supply in the area.
The Fire Service had to deal with a number of flooded roads in Acharavi, Potamos and several other areas.
