Dear fellow residents,
The conditions all of us have been living under recently on the island don't allow us to sit back and do nothing about matters that affect our lives and our futures.
The issue of waste management is not only a threat to public health and is not limited to pollution of the environment, which our children will inherit, but also extends to structures exploiting and financially weakening the public. Unfortunately, we have all come to understand that passing responsibility on to our elected representatives in the hope that they will act in our interests is something that we have been doing for years and has led us nowhere.
For all the above reasons and as a follow-up to the event organized by the Alternative Workshop last Saturday (10/11) at the Labour Centre we invite all organizations, residents' associations and individual members of the public to attend an open discussion on "Recycling and the circular economy as key drivers of development which can generate benefits for the public" at Temploni Primary School on Sunday 25 November at 17:00.
The open discussion will be a springboard towards an integrated management system for the proper utilisation of our materials which can provide social, environmental and economic benefits.
It is an ambitious, essential and, above all, achievable aim to protect public health and the environment and for our society to fully exploit our waste. It is a big challenge but there are also great opportunities in Corfu if we move quickly and efficiently.
We hope to see you all there!
