CORFU. They were tracked down a few hours later at Corfu Port, as they were about to board a ferry.

(Police Department) On 16 December, in Corfu, police arrested two men: a 24-year-old foreign national and a 20-year-old Greek. They are accused of setting cars on fire, causing explosions, and damaging other people’s property, acting together and on more than one occasion.

The arrests followed an investigation into the arson of two parked cars that happened early that morning in south Corfu. Police identified the two men as the suspects and found them a few hours later at the port of Corfu, sitting in a car just before they were about to board a ferry.

Further investigation showed that the same suspects were also involved in another car arson, which took place on the night of Wednesday, 10 December, in the Kavala area.

During the arrest, police found and seized a plastic bag that smelled strongly of petrol, along with other items. Police also seized the suspects’ car, which they believe was used to help carry out the crimes.

The two men were taken to the public prosecutor in Corfu.
