Wreaths laid at the Holocaust Memorial and Jewish Museum exhibition opens

CORFU. The German Ambassador attended the wreath laying at the Holocaust Memorial on Saturday 24th - The Greek Jewish Museum exhibition opened at the Old Fortress.

There was a wreath-laying ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial in Corfu Town on Saturday morning, 24 October as part of the remembrance events organised by the German Presidency of the International Alliance in collaboration with the Central Corfu Municipality and the Israeli community.







Amongst those present were the German Ambassador, the President of the Greek Central Israeli Council and the Honoraray President of Corfu Israeli Community.









There was a service at the Synagogue prior to the laying of wreaths at the Holocaust Memorial. At 12:30 there was the official opening of the exhibition organised by the Greek Jewish Museum 'At the crossroads: Corfu Jewish community' at the Latin Chapel in the Old Fortress.













This evening at 17:00 there will be a video screening of a presentation by Dr. Odette Varon-Vassar "Albert Cohen: the man and his work" and at 20:30 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society will be performing a concert at the Municipal Theatre (invitation only).



The events in remembrance of the Holocaust end tomorrow Sunday with the opening of a photography exhibition by Artemis Alcalay 'Corfu / Return. Greek survivors of the Holocaust' at at 10:00 at the Synagogue and a video screening showing the restoration work at the Synagogue by the Hellenic-German Future Foundation. At 17:00 there will be a live presentation by Dr. Evi Karamoutsou "The Corfu Jewish community over the years".
