Corfu large water supply project to be put out to tender

ATHENS. According to Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas, the official announcements are expected to be made within the next week.

The Corfu large water supply project is in the final stages to be put out to tender, while the official announcements are expected to be made within the next week by the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Konstantinos Karamanlis.
 
As the Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas told Enimerosi, the tender documents are ready, while today the inclusion of the project in the Ministry of Infrastructure's Sectoral Development Programme (TPA) was posted. "The project will be put out to tender immediately. Within the next week, announcements will be made," he said.
 
 
The subject
 
The Public-Private-Partnership's subject is the study (studies necessary for the implementation of the project, based on the studies made available by the contracting authority), funding, construction, maintenance and operation of the project.
 
The project includes the following:
 
- The construction, operation and maintenance of the Melissoudi, Kyprianades and Kalamiotissa dams.
 
- The construction, operation and maintenance of the Melissoudiou and Kalamiotissa water purification facilities.
 
- The operation and maintenance of the water softening facility in Chrysida.
 
- The construction, operation and maintenance of 220km of external networks.
 
- The construction, operation and maintenance of 4 tanks (Horoepiskopi, Troumpeta, Stroggili, New Reservoir of Melitaion) and the operation and maintenance of the Potamos tank.
 
- The construction, operation and maintenance of 4 pumping stations, the operation and maintenance of the Potamos pumping station and the construction, operation and maintenance of 4 booster stations.
 
- The operation and maintenance of 3 drilling pumping stations.
 
- The installation of the SCADA system.
 
- Roadworks and electromechanical installations.
 
 
30 years
 
The Partnership is expected to last for 30 years, of which:

- 2,5 years will be for the works and the construction of the dams
- 1,5 years will be for the dams to be completed and start operating
- 26 years will be for the maintenance and operation of the whole project
