Lions Club conference on tourism and development
CORFU. The conference was organised in collaboration with Central Corfu Municipality.
In collaboration with Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality, Thessaloniki-Macedonia Lions Club held a conference on the potential of tourism in development at the Ionian Parliament.
The conference was coordinated by the President of Thessaloniki-Macedonia Lions Club Dr. Irene Georgopoulou and academics from the Ionian University Tourism Department and Thessaloniki Aristotle University Green Regional Development Department took part. The Ionian University was represented by the Head of the Tourism Department Dr. Konstantinos Voglis and Dr. Naoum Milonas.
From Thessaloniki University the following took part: Dr. Zacharoula Andreopoulou, specialist in the technology of green regional policy; Dr. Tessa Doulkeri, professor and President of the Association of Communication & Journalism Scientists (EPETAD) and Dr. Thekla Tsitsoni, specialist in protected areas and urban green.
Vascular surgeon Dr. Christos Yiagas also took part and talked about the beneficial contribution of tourism to health services and vice versa.
Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou and Deputy Mayor for Tourism Panayiotis Varouchas also addressed the meeting.
