CORFU. She deserved the award and I felt it was my duty to be by her side and share her joy at today’s ceremony. Congratulations to Christina Gerekou, Corfu is proud.
Everyone was moved at the Athanasios V. Botsis Foundation for the Promotion of Journalism awards ceremony, which took place in the presence of the Greek President Katerina Sakelaropoulou. The journalism award was also awarded to a Corfiot journalist – Enimerosi’s Christina Gerekou.
This makes us proud, but also gives us hope that journalism keeps the values and ideals alive. As did the article Christina wrote on organ donation and for which she was awarded. “This award recognizes the large heartedness of the family of 19-year-old Christos Kourkoulos”, which donated his organs and gave life to our fellow humans, wrote Enimerosi publisher Giorgos Katsaitis in a previous article. I could not agree more with him and I bow down to the large heartedness of the family of Christos Kourkoulos.
However, Christina’s humility and sensitivity, as well as the fact that, through her articles, she is promoting the moral values and is publishing articles without aiming to impress and following the latest news, were also rightly highlighted.
