First performance of Ionian Anthem in St. Spyridon Square

CORFU. Sunday night performance in front of the neoclassical building housing the Numismatic Museum - formerly the Ionian Bank.
The new Ionian Anthem was performed in St. Spyridon Square (Plakada) on Sunday night.
On the initiative of the bank's societies, the anthem was composed by 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society honorary conductor Spyros Mavropoulos with words written by Sophia Maronidou, cultural amassador for the Ionian Bank.
'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society took part in the performance along with two municipal choirs and the renowned soprano Elli Karydi.
The bank's societies were in Corfu from 21 to 23 May for the premiere performance. Plans for the composition of an anthem began months ago in order to keep the historical symbolism of the Ionian Bank alive for future generations.
