Lefkimmi Junior High School pupils visit Calypso’s Cave

CORFU. As part of the Erasmus programme entitled ‘Modern Odysseys’.
The Ionian Islands Primary and Secondary Education Department team participated in the second meeting that took place between the Lefkimmi Junior High School, the Ithaca Junior High School, the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary Gozo Malta, the Istituto Comprensivo ‘S. Bagolino’ Alcamo Italy and the IES Sierra Bermeja School Malaga Spain, at Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Victoria on Gozo Island, Malta, from 28 March to 1 April 2022.
During their five-day stay, the pupils had the opportunity to broaden their horizons, remember Homer's Odyssey and walk in Calypso’s cave, where Odysseus lived for seven years.
The pupils, under the guidance of their teachers, also built a raft, using the raft that Odysseus built to leave Calypso’s island as a model.
The Ionian Islands Primary and Secondary Education Department is the coordinator of the European Erasmus programme ‘Modern Odysseys: Travels, dreams and goals in the Mediterranean Sea’.
