Wanted individual apprehended in connection with bloody altercation

A 20-year-old Greek national was arrested in Corfu yesterday afternoon, 6 March, in connection with an incident that occurred on 5 March at a central location in the town.
He was located and arrested during the investigation of an incident in which four pupils from a school on the island were injured.
The events took place during the morning hours in the alley next to the hotel at Pentofanaro. From the statements of those involved, it has not been established whether their meeting there was coincidental or arranged. The cause of the bloody altercation has also not been clarified, with each side blaming the other.
The injured individuals who were taken to the hospital had been struck with an iron object that the 20-year-old had with him. It has not been determined whether he found it there or had brought it with him, nor why. However, the case file also includes a violation of weapons legislation (referring to a crowbar).
The arrested man, against whom a case file has been formed for causing bodily harm, dangerous bodily harm, and violation of weapons legislation, was brought before the Public Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance.
Police are continuing the preliminary investigation into the case.
