CORFU. “In the next few weeks, the files for the advance payment will be approved as a first form of relief to the businesses.”
Deputy Minister of Interior Stelios Petsas, in statements following his meeting with the Ionian Islands Regional Governor, placed special emphasis on the repair of the damage caused by the ‘Ballos’ storm that hit the island last October.
After providing an outline of the issues that will be discussed at his meetings with the local authorities, he referred to the funding for the restoration and prevention works from natural disasters – to which he included the final signing of the files for compensation to businesses. The Mayors will also inform him about compensation to households.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Interior has already paid €500,000, while next week extra funding will be approved in the Region.
Regarding the ‘Antonis Tritsis’ programme, Mr. Petsas said that “We have already included €9.5 million projects for the Ionian Islands. The most important one is the one – around €5.9 million – for urban regeneration in Tsaki, Benitses. But we will also includ, at the beginning of March, a major €3 million project for the digital transformation of the Region, followed by the inclusion of the Region's proposal for the very important promotion of our cultural heritage – the Digital Museum. The problem regarding the 6th Primary School’s building will also be included.”
