Corfu Tax Office (DOY) Deputy Director remanded in custody
The others were released with restrictive conditions.
By unanimous decision of the Prosecutor and the Investigating Judge, in the early hours of Wednesday, October 16th, the Deputy Director of the Corfu Tax Office, alleged to be the mastermind of the criminal organisation, was ordered to be held in custody.
The three tax officials and the accountant, who are also accused, were released with restrictive conditions (prohibition from leaving the country and mandatory appearances at a police station).
One supervisor was granted bail of €30,000, the second supervisor and the auditor were granted bail of €3,000, and the accountant was granted bail of €1,000.
Their testimonies lasted for approximately 16 hours.
The accused are facing charges for various offences, such as forming a criminal organisation, criminal activities (mainly faced by the tax officers), extortion, and bribery (faced by the accountant), among others.
