Bad weather causes problems throughout Corfu
CORFU. Firefighters were called to cut trees and pump out water throughout many regions.
The "ATENA" bad weather that hit Corfu from Monday evening, has caused blackouts, and trees being cut as well as the need to pump out water.
Firefighters were called to cut trees in five cases and to pump out water from basements in Messonghi.
Moreover, serious issues were caused in Bastatika Neochoriou, where the central road flooded and caused problems to houses, basements and parked cars.
According to firefighters, especially in this area, two drivers were in danger, by trying to drive through a flooded road. The one car was carried 10 metres away into fields. The drivers managed to get out of their cars and they are well.
Additionally, some regions still have blackouts, with DEDDIE trying to fix the damage. Specifically, due to thunder there are many problems in the North, in Dassia, Kassiopi, Nissaki, Korakiana, and in the South due to a sub-station that was hit by lightning. Finally, some central regions such as Garitsa have blackouts.
