Sea clean-up at Porto Timoni

On the mermaid-shaped island of Corfu, The Mermaid Island© is organising a symbolic seabed clean-up at Porto Timoni in the northwest of the island by local volunteer groups and businesses.

Weather permitting, the clean-up will take place on Saturday, June 15, on the beach and seabed of the mentioned area from 10:00 to 12:00 in the morning or from 17:00 to 19:00 in the evening.

The underwater clean-up will be conducted by Mermaids Corfu, Thessaloniki Mermaid Academy, and Corfu Diving Club based at Agios Georgios Pagon beach.

Support from the shore and for the transport of rubbish will be provided by the speedboat rental businesses of Agios Georgios.

Active participants in our action will include the Afionas Cultural Society, the North Corfu action group EPOMEA, and the Corfu Environmental Association.

For the protection of divers and swimmers, the presence of the Corfu Coastguard is also requested.

For waste disposal, the contribution of the Municipality of North Corfu is requested.
