Local Council President takes initiative to clean up Temploni
CORFU. Giorgos Mourmouris has arranged for the assignment of the work to a contractor, using his own machinery, following – as he says – all the legal procedures.
Since Tuesday, a clean-up operation has been underway in Temploni, following a personal initiative by the president of the Local Town Council, Giorgos Mourmouris. This action, deemed absolutely necessary due to the high temperatures and the risk of fire, is expected to last about a week.
In recent days, Corfu has often been in high fire risk zones (category 3 to 4), making the clearing of vegetation and waste a matter of urgent importance.
The clean-up is being carried out without any assistance from the Municipality, using only his own resources. So far, the area from Agios Andreas to the Diellas supermarket has been cleaned. Mr. Mourmouris has arranged for the assignment of the work to a contractor, using his own machinery, following – as he says – all the legal procedures.
