The renovation projects for the Health Centres of Corfu and part of Corfu Hospital are set to commence, as the relevant contracts were signed today by the Director of the 6th Health Region, Yiannis Karvelis, and the two contractors.
The signing took place at a ceremony held in the event hall of OLKE on the occasion of the visit to Corfu by the Deputy Minister of Health, Irini Agapidaki.
In the morning, the Deputy Minister of Health had a meeting with the directors of the Health Centres to hear first-hand their views, suggestions, complaints, and the shortcomings of the health facilities.
Irini Agapidaki stated that "in this effort to reform prevention and health, we are together. The Ministry's leadership is in constant collaboration with the people in the field and, of course, the Health Regions. I want to thank the President of TAIPED and the Director of the Health Region because, at this moment, the largest upgrade of the National Health System's infrastructure since its inception is underway."
Tight Deadlines
The Deputy Minister pointed out, "We have tight deadlines from the Recovery Fund and a mandate from the Prime Minister to not lose even a single euro for Health."
The projects were included in the Recovery Fund during the Kratsa Regional Administration two years ago. The budget amounts to a total of approximately €5.5 million.
The "Energy and Functional Upgrade and Renovation of the Health Centres of Lefkimmi, Agios Athanasios–Agrós, and Agios Markos" was signed, with a contract value of approximately €4,300,000 (including VAT) and a completion time of 14 months.
Additionally, the project "Repair Works in Various Buildings of Corfu General Hospital" was signed, with a contract value of approximately €1,300,000 (including VAT) and a completion time of 16 months.
The contracting authority is the 6th Health Region, and the implementing authority is TAIPED.
In addition to the Deputy Minister of Health, also present at the contract signing were the Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas, the CEO of TAIPED Dimitris Politis, the Director of the 6th Health Region Yiannis Karvelis, and the Director of Corfu Hospital Manto Egglezopoulou.
