Two mini-buses to provide shuttle service to old town from port and Sports Centre
CORFU. Traffic Police will shortly announce special traffic measures for 10 and 11 August.
Central Corfu Municipality is providing two mini buses to provide a shuttle service for the public who are parking in temporary parking areas, as part of the implementation of emergency traffic measures, which will be in effect until August 27th. These were put into operation from Monday afternoon.
Their use is free of charge, aimed at facilitating residents and visitors who wish to access the historical centre of the town.
A 9-seater mini bus transports visitors from the temporary parking area at the port, to Spilia. This route was fully functional on its first day of implementation yesterday, and completed 40 trips.
Additionally, a 20-seater mini bus transports people from Corfu National Sports Centre to Pentofanaro. However, the usage of this specific route was limited yesterday, as for now, there is a low number of vehicles using the parking area.
For this year's Varkarola in Garitsa Bay on Thursday evening, as well as the religious events commemorating the miracle of Saint Spyridon on Friday, August 11th, traffic measures will be stricter. During the specific hours of these events, no vehicle access will be allowed to the historical centre.
The traffic regulations that will be in effect on August 10th and 11th will be announced by the Traffic Police.
