Liston car park closed temporarily due to traffic congestion
CORFU. The car park reopened after a short while - Bollards are being placed in the approach lane to prevent illegal parking.
The summer season has barely begun, but the usual traffic problems are already upon us, with the volume of vehicles and the lack of parking spaces causing congestion in various parts of the town.
This morning's congestion near the car park at Liston forced the Traffic Police to take temporary measures, including closing the car park for a few hours in order to clear private cars and buses.
Deputy Mayor Nikos Kalogeros told Enimerosi that these emergency measures were necessary due to the inability of the car park to operate properly, primarily caused by drivers parking in the designated approach lane for the entrance to the car park.
Tonight, he added, the Technical Works department will install bollards and prominent markings to prevent illegal parking.
