CORFU. Work continues with installation of new lights, placement of benches and bins and pruning.
The Central Corfu Technical Works Department announced that the first phase of the construction of Agios Ioannis Sq. has been completed. The project provided for paving with slabs similar to those in Sinies, while work continues with installation of new lights, placement of benches and bins and pruning.
The project ‘Construction of Agios Ioannis Square’ has a €100,000 budget and it was a project that the residents of Agios Ioannis have been requesting for decades.
The Deputy Mayor for Technical Works Nikos Kalogeros said that "the residents' request is finally starting to take shape, it upgrades the area and makes it more traditional-looking. We have committed ourselves to the residents and are making this project a reality. The present municipal authority continues to implement its programme, regenerating public spaces, roads, playgrounds and schools.
These projects are being implemented despite all the difficulties we have faced in the last two-and-a-half years due to the division of the former single Corfu Municipality, the pandemic and the energy crisis. We will continue our efforts being aware of the responsibility we have towards our citizens.
