Following the significant increase observed daily since last Thursday in Corfu filling stations, consumers are attempting to fill up their cars with €5-€10.

The Corfu Petrol Dealers Association president Antonis Sakkos told Enimerosi that it is not only the locals, but also the tourists, who fill up their vehicles with small quantities each time. “Nobody fills up their vehicle completely anymore, not even tourists. Demand has dropped by 20%-30%, while the demand that once existed from boats has also dropped, as those who used to buy fuel even for one ride no longer do so,” he said.
According to Mr. Sakkos the price of unleaded petrol has gone up to €2.36-€2.60, while the price of diesel is €2. “The price of petrol, which started to increase again since last week, increased even more yesterday and today the price of fuel has increased by €0.20,” he said.
Consumers should be careful with cheap fuel
He added that consumers should be particularly careful and suspicious when they see very cheap fuel prices. “Consumers should purchase fuel from filling stations that they trust and refuel daily,” he explained, stressing however that there are large price differences from one filling station to another depending on the day and the price of the fuel purchased.
