CORFU. The tourist guides are demanding that EFKA immediately count their insurance days of the last three years.
The Association of Corfu Travel Agents (AOCTA) supports the Panhellenic Federation of Tourist Guides’ fight and is demanding that:
- EFKA immediately count the tourist guides’ insurance days for 2019, 2020 and 2021 and, if necessary, even with additional staffing (even temporarily).
- The Minister issue the provision that has been pending since 2020 for the electronic insurance stamping.
- The article 60 of Law 4872/2021 be applied, so that 50 working days will be required for the granting of this year's unemployment benefit for the tourist guides as well.
The political leadership must put an end to this situation without any further delay, as every year the tourist guides' insurance, their winter unemployment benefit to which they are legally entitled and the possibility to retire for those who meet the requirements is not guaranteed, because their insurance stamps are not being counted.
It is necessary for the Ministry of Employment and the governor of EFKA to try to find a solution immediately for the tourist guides.
