CORFU. The ‘Christmas love packages’ include long-life food and meat and are distributed with respect and dignity.
The North Corfu Municipality collected and made, with its social services and civil protection, ‘Christmas love packages’ in order to help and support families, financially weak people and vulnerable groups that are suffering and face problems in managing their needs and in order to meet their basic needs by providing them with both products – such as food and basic necessities – and services.
The aim is that all citizens, all families, all neighbourhoods and all villages will have everything they need for their Christmas meal. The Christmas love packages include long-life food and meat and are distributed with respect and dignity.
“These are difficult times not only for our fellow citizens but for the whole world. Therefore, we are joining forces for our vulnerable fellow citizens, for whom the pandemic has created more problems,” said the North Corfu Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris. “The Municipality, through its organised social services and civil protection, is making every effort to support their needs and provide relief.
At this difficult time for our country, the meaning of Christmas is that no matter how hard things are, if we stand by our fellow humans with solidarity, faith and optimism, we will find a way to stand on our feet.
Our thoughts are with everyone that is struggling, with everyone that is trying to make ends meet. WE STAND BY THEM. NOT ONLY DURING HOLIDAYS, BUT ALWAYS”.
Finally, if you know someone, who does not have access to the necessary food and medicine, or does not have a place to protect themselves from cold, please inform the North Corfu Municipality, so that it can immediately address the issue.
