Severe weather causes damage - fallen trees and power outages

CORFU. Severe weather conditions in Corfu - National Meteorological Service (EMY) issued warning last night.
Corfu residents received a message from the 112 service on Friday night warning of worsening of weather conditions and advising against non-essential movement.
Fallen trees
At 09:30 this morning, the Fire Department reported limited damage, including 8 trees that had to be cut (one in the north, one in the south and the remainder in Central Corfu) mainly due to the winds that were as strong as Force 10.
They were also called out to Kavalouri to pump out water and to Alkinou St. in Garitsa, where a corrugated iron roof had fallen.
On Saturday morning, smoke was detected from an electrical fire on private property in Glyfada, which firefighters were able to quickly get under control.
Power outages
DEDDIE crews are working hard to repair damage caused mainly by trees falling on electrical cables.
According to Corfu DEDDIE Director Nikos Sofianos, there are problems in areas around Mt. Pantokrator and power outages in Kavadades, Magoulades, Arillas, Agios Stefanos, Acharavi and Kassiopi.
There are also power outages in Central Corfu - Gastouri, Benitses, Viros and Perama.
There were fewer problems in Corfu Town - in Garitsa, Kyprou St. and the Courthouse.
DEDDIE crews are working hard to restore power as soon as possible.
According to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the severe weather conditions will continue throughout Saturday.
